Company History of NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik GmbH

1873 Thomas and Christian NETZSCH establish Gebrüder NETZSCH Maschinenfabrik in Selb
 
1896 NETZSCH presents its first ball mill. This mill received the "golden medal" at the Nuremberg exhibition. At this time, ball mills for wet and dry grinding were primarily used for processing raw materials containing silicates and in the paint and printing ink companies.  
 
1931 NETZSCH headquarters moved to Asch/Czechoslovakia.
 
1946 After the Second World War, the company re-established in Selb/Bavaria. Here management began manufacturing machines for the ceramic industry and introducing grinding systems as part of the product line.
 
1956 NETZSCH obtains a license to manufacture attritors (PR Mills).
 
1963 The first continuously working agitator bead mill, the moliNEx System, is developed.
 
1969 Development of the annular chamber mill utilizing the peg- counter-peg system, is established and called the John Mill. This agitator bead mill is the first to process high-viscosity printing inks in enclosed, continuously working systems.
 
1969 Foundation of NETZSCH Incorporated, Exton, PA. NETZSCH Inc. begins manufacturing wet grinding equipment to service all of North America.
 
1973 Foundation of NETZSCH do Brazil Ltda., Pomerode. This location becomes an additional production facility for manufacturing wet grinding mills. NETZSCH do Brazil provides customer service for all of South America.
 
1974 By autumn of this year, the volume of orders received for NETZSCH agitators increased to an overwhelming level. Gebrüder NETZSCH found it necessary to acquire an additional production site. In November 1974, the company NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik is founded and an appropriate production facility is purchased in Tirschenreuth. The administration staff and the laboratory remain in Selb.  
 
1976 The first NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik Disperser is built.
 
1977/
1979
First expansion of the manufacturing facility in Tirschenreuth.
 
1984 Signing of a license agreement with Ashizawa in Japan.
 
1986 NETZSCH acquires Mastermix (Aldridge, England) to complete its grinding product line, now offering Mixing and Dispersion equipment. The new company is called NETZSCH-Mastermix Ltd.
 
1986 Agreement with BASF Group to design a special ZWM Circulation Mill.
 
1989 Tirschenreuth expands again, now adding Halls no. 4 and 5. Production space at this facility increases to over 4000 m2. In addition, one of the most modern applications laboratories for grinding and dispersion is constructed in Selb.  
 
1990 Foundation of NETZSCH Espana S.A. (Terrassa/Barcelona,Spain). This facility becomes the Production site for the NETZSCH MiniZeta and LabTop lab mills.
 
1990 First NETZSCH Module 2000 is built - a mobile grinding and dispersion unit on an industrial scale.
 
1991 The first LMZ Circulation Mill is manufactured. Later named the ZETA® System.
 
1991 Mirodur and NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik sign a contract to manufacture and sell the Turbomill, now called the TopMill.
 
1992 A new administration building is built in Selb. Office space expands to over 2300 m2
 
1993 Production of the "Mount Isa Mill", the largest horizontal agitator bead mill in the world with a grinding chamber volume of more than 3000 liters.
 
1995 Takeover of the established company CONDUX Maschinenbau (Hanau, Germany). This company is renamed NETZSCH-CONDUX Mahltechnik GmbH and becomes part of the NETZSCH Grinding and Dispersion division. Now, NETZSCH offers a complete product line of dry grinding, classifying and plastic materials recycling equipment.
 
1997 Takeover of the company Dieter Werner Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (Mannheim, Germany) and integration into NETZSCH-Feinmahltechnik. NETZSCH increases its product line to include Planetary Mixing and Kneading Machines.
 
1999 Production of the first NETZSCH Feinmahltechnik Three Roll Mill
 
     
2000 DIN EN ISO 9001:1994 certification.
 
2000 Foundation of the company NETZSCH Shanghai Machinery and Instruments in China.
     
2001 Opening of the representative office in Warszawa, Poland  
     
2003 Foundation of NETZSCH-Tula, Russia. Production place for grinding and mixing technology  
     
2003 Construction of the biggest horizontal disk agitator bead mill with a grinding chamber volume of 10000 l and a drive capacity of 2.6 kW  
 
2003 Re-certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000
